Key Responsibilities
Coordinate & Execute European-wide optimization projects
Set European packaging specifications, quality procedures and perform audits accordingly
Handling and resolving incoming technical queries with proper root cause analysis and recommended action plan
Manage third party production, refurbishment, cleaning operations and handles equipment portfolio
Assure that the used packages and storage tanks are in conformance with European and country specific legislations for dangerous chemicals storage and transportation (ADR, Vlarem, DiBT etc.)
Cooperate with Procurement and Marketing to identify and select local suppliers that can supply industrial packages, chemical storage tanks and related services
Ensure optimal life cycle management for the returnable container-fleet
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science or Mechanical Engineering
2-5 years relevant work experience desirable (supply chain or packaging industry)
Excellent technical knowledge and analytical skills
Advanced packaging technical knowledge (e.g.: reading technical drawings, being able to give technical advice on issues)
Project optimization experience and good problem solving capabilities
Strive for continuous improvement, for process excellence
Fluency in English is required, other European languages are a plus
Good computer skills. Experience with Excel. Access and SAP is a plus
Strong interpersonal skills - to be able to work within an international environment
Innovative person, focusing on out-of-the-box solution suggestions, instead of the ready-made solutions
Willingness to travel approximately 1 time a month

We are looking for a Project Manager Supply Chain to strengthen the Packaging Systems Group with technical skills at the clients office in Leiden, the Netherlands. Packaging Systems is part of the department of Transportation with a direct link to Supply Chain - and is primarily responsible for maintaining the packaging portfolio for the EMEA region and managing a returnable container fleet of 23.000 units, ranging from 30 to 400 gallons, across Europe. Key responsibility is to ensure technical, quality and safety standards and ensure that plants and third parties are working accordingly. Besides this, Packaging Systems is continuously working on process improvements, cross-departmental projects to maximize return of investment for the company, and support the sales team with high quality and time-bound service.
