Our client, specialized in drug discovery solutions and based in Leiden is looking for someone that can provide application and infrastructure support to end users within a primarily virtualized environment. This role presents a great opportunity to learn and apply a wide spectrum of IT skills. As you will work in a scientific research organisation, any experience of working in a similar environment especially with laboratory information systems would be a great advantage.
Essential Responsibilities & Tasks
Application Support of Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS)
Reporting writing Crystal Reports
SQL experience working with end users query issues
Working with any 3rd party vendors where necessary to coordinate external support
Install new PC hardware and software as required to support business
Advise users on hardware and software and ensure users are familiar with IT policies and procedures
Work with other IT staff as and when appropriate to resolve issues related to IT infrastructure - including networking, storage, Virtualisation technologies, Windows and Linux servers and Oracle/MSSQL Server databases.
Monitor backup systems to ensure all site data is backed up according to IT procedures.
Qualifications/Requirements
Technical knowledge:
Windows XP/7 & Server 2003/2008/2012
Microsoft Office & Outlook
SQL Programming
In addition knowledge of some or all of the following is highly desirable:
Development and application configuration experience
Strong knowledge and proven execution of application change management
Work experience on both implementations and system support with application testing
In addition to a strong technical background with knowledge of the technologies outlined above the candidate should possess the following skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Be self-motivated and have the desire to learn
Ability to accurately document systems and procedures
Ability to explain complex IT issues to non technical end users
Ability to work remotely as the only IT person on site
